For DIY rack builds, or to fit another rack to your vehicle equipped with captured nuts in the roof, we offer the roof channel towers separately. In 2018 this design was modified to become a universal fit for most Toyota trucks.   That means they will fit the 100 series Land Cruiser and LX470, 120 series Land Cruiser Prado, 4th Gen 4Runner and GX470, 150 Series Prado, 5th Gen 4Runner and GX460, 200 series Land Cruiser and LX570, 250 Series Land Cruiser and Lexus GX550, and even Sequoia, Tacoma, and Tundra roofs.    And in 2024, we launched a new variant of this product called Roof Track Towers, which is a different base intended for roof tracks (on truck toppers, for example) or other flat surfaces like overland trailer builds. In 2025 we released a new “shorty” version of this same tower, offering an even lower profile mount solution.

Slotted mounting holes in the tower base provide a more universal product, enabling you to run these in a variety of applications and locations, including all 4 tower positions per side on the 100 and 200 series Land Cruisers.   The top portion of the tower has also been redesigned for added rigidity making these our strongest and most versatile roof channel towers yet, with added holes allowing for direct bolt-up for all of the most common extrusion cross bars.

Roof channel kits come complete with rubber sealing washers to go between the tower and the roof, and stainless hardware to assemble the towers and secure it to the vehicle, including Gamiviti's proprietary obround washer to seal the slotted tower hole. If you have a Tacoma, Sequoia, or some other vehicle with the smaller M6 threads in your roof, be sure to specify the M6 bolt option- we’ll swap those in your hardware kit in place of the standard M8 bolts.

One thing you’ll notice, also pictured above, is you will receive only 4 of the 1/4-20 height setting center screws, which is intentional as you only need to set your rack height in the 4 corners only, and most often just the 2 in front. The rest of the towers can then float to meet that same plane, and the missing center screws allows them to all work together. See the video with the title “watch this one” for a closer look at the tightening sequence.

pro tip: during installation, apply a little silicone to the screw threads to further keep water from penetrating.   See our installation videos and instructions for pictures and more information.

short version roof channel towers

Another new product for 2025, we developed a “shorty” version of our standard roof channel towers. These are a great solution for folks who want a lower cross bar setup, or a lower profile flat rack or full expo rack (running Expo up), or a 3rd set of towers bolted directly to a rigid roof top tent, like a Go Fast or similar.

These will not work with our Essential Expo racks, and are not included with our standard rack packages, as they don’t work with any Expo down rack as the side grab handles of the rack will touch the roof, or be so close to the roof as the Expo bar is unusable as a grab handle. The height difference is roughly 1.25” between the two. Please contact us if you’d like to consider using these towers on your Gamiviti rack package, and we’ll answer any questions.

For folks building out a 3-cross bar setup, or wanting the lowest option for a flat rack or full Expo rack, our recommendation is the “shorty combo” option below, where you’ll use the standard height towers front and back, and the short ones in the middle. For 2-cross bar setup, you can do all short if you prefer.

Height Comparison - standard vs. short

The above gallery shows the height differences between the short and standard roof channel towers, which is approximately 1.25”. Note these numbers are measured from the bottom of the tower base, which rests inside your roof channels… so the actual height of a cross bar across your roof will be about 1” less than what you see above, considering the depth of the channel and the curve of your roof.

In setups where the standard height towers are used in all positions, the middle towers become the limiting factor for how low the roof rack or cross bar setup can be. So these Shorty towers address that, allowing the middle towers to be up to 1.25” lower, thereby allowing the other towers to also sit lower. This is best for flat racks, Expo up racks, and cross bar setups. It is not recommended for Expo down racks, and could also lead to interference with bottom-mounted accessories, like awnings on our rack receivers, as depending on the awning there could be interference with the rear doors. Please contact us with any questions.

Roof Track Towers

These are the same upper portions that come with the roof channel towers, same hardware that connects them, but with a different “flat bottom” base intended to bolt directly to flat surfaces and roof rails. They come with channel nut hardware that will fit inside most roof rails, including the Rhino rails that we offer.

Rack Hardware

We also offer matching hardware to connect your towers to your rack, this is the same stainless steel 3/8-16 hardware used for the towers, using 1” long bolts. We also offer hardware to connect your towers to multiple extrusions, channels, even other racks like the Rhino Pioneer platform. All of these can be found on the hardware page.
