Cross bars
As an alternative to full roof racks, or as a way to augment your roof rack setup even further, we can help you resolve most every roof-mounted challenge by providing one of four options for cross bars. The options are as follows:
Extrusion cross bars & Gamiviti towers: This is the most versatile solution, these work when paired to any Gamiviti tower for a cross-bar only solution We offer the most versatile 1020 profile, also known as 1”x2” t-slot profile (most popular) and they can be mounted onto Gamiviti rain gutter and roof channel towers, Gamiviti racks.
Extrusion cross bars on Gamiviti racks. Create a RTT lift system, raise a ski box, add a guard rail and more.
Extrusion cross bars for OEM racks. These same 1x2” t-slot aluminum extrusions canb bolt directly onto on OEM rails using our wing brackets or stock rail angle brackets.
Welded cross bars: These custom steel cross bars are custom made to fit your Gamiviti rack. These are not in stock, they are made to order, most commonly at the same time as we are building your rack but we can also make them for you later, available in a variety of length and height options.
One of the best aspects of a Gamiviti tower & cross bar kit is future expandability- for example starting out with just 2 cross bars then adding 1 or 2 later as your needs change, or starting out with a cross bar setup then upgrading to a full rack later, using the same towers you already have.
Extrusion Cross Bars & tower kits
Extrusion cross bar kits come with the cross bars, towers, tower hardware, cross bar attachment hardware, and end caps. Note that the shipping included with your purchase covers the continental US, additional shipping may apply for addresses outside of that we’ll email if that’s the case. In general 52” is recommended for most vehicles, for wider applications we’d suggest 60”, and for 40 series 63”, which is the same width as our 40 racks. All three options are found below. Also note that the roof channel towers will be for any Land Cruiser or LX 1998 or newer, and rain gutters fit any Land Cruiser 1997 and older. Extrusion cross bar kits for 40/45 series Land Cruisers
To add towers and cross bars to your 40 series Land Cruiser, you’re going to need the extended height rain gutter towers, and some longer 64” cross bars. Please use the menu below to make your selection.
Extrusion cross bars on Gamiviti racks
In general the 60” length is a good starting point for most roof racks, at it allows a little bit of overhang on the sides of the rack.
Uses of extrusion cross bars include…
Create a support for your roof tent lift system. If you have a Racor, Fleximount, or other lift system in your garage for raising and storing your RTT, you simply loop those cables around the ends of these extrusions to lift it.
Create a side rail to secure loads on your rack using 40mm extrusions. These extrusion cross bars can mount both across the rack, or lengthwise.
Mount cross bars directly to Gamiviti towers- for light duty applications where a full rack isn’t required, or if you’re waiting for your full rack to be built, you can use these cross bars on your Gamiviti towers to get you by and out the door.
Mount cross bars to Multi Brackets- for even more versatility, you can mount these extrusion cross bars to our Multi Brackets, providing a more raised cross bar system on your Gamiviti rack, or using the Multi brackets on a trailer. This allows you a fast solution to transfer a roof tent between your roof rack and offroad trailer, for example.

Extrusion cross bar kits for stock oEM rails
For those wishing to retain the OEM rack of their Land Cruiser, 4Runner, Sequoia, GX470, LX470, and 08-15 LX570, we offer a complete kit to add 1x2 extrusions across the top of your OEM rails. This is a less expensive option compared to replacing your OEM rack with Gamiviti towers, but comes with the limitations of your OEM rack length, added height, and original roof rack load rating. It does however have the added benefit of allowing you to slide the cross bar along the OEM rail, giving you additional mounting locations compared to a tower/cross bar setup, which can be adventageous for some ski boxes.
end caps - adding threads for your 1x2 extrusions
All cross bars now come threaded with 1/4-20 threads, so that you will be able to bolt up your end caps right away. In cases where you have cut down your cross bars, or need to tap them for some other reason, the video below will show you how to do this.

Welded Cross Bars
Custom-made, bolt-on cross bars provide a new set of accessory mounting options. These bars bolt directly to the plates of your Gamiviti rack, using the same matching stainless hardware, and stand about 3" above the top plane of your rack. Some of the uses and advantages to adding cross bars include...
Allow for the installation of rooftop tents on racks that run the Expo bar "up." These bars allow the RTT to open over the top of the Expo bar.
Allow for installation of some aftermarket accessories that require the accessory to extend below the top plane of the rack, including some bike racks and cargo boxes.
Provide a space below a RTT for storage of smaller items. This is even more useful on racks where a drop-down basket has been added.
Serve as an easier tie-down option for some boats and kayaks, where it's advantagous to have them raised slightly above the main rack plane.
Transition the installation of a RTT from under the RTT, to outside the tent, where it's much easier to manipulate the nuts and bolts.
When left on the RTT, provide an easier means to carry and hang the RTT in storage.
Cross bars ship for free with your roof rack, which is also the fastest way to get them as they are custom-built to fit your specific rack width. Custom heights are also available.
